Sustainability Studies

"Materials sustainability is more than a statistic on a report such as carbon emissions; it is a fundamental understanding of the socio-ecological impact(s) and implications of material use and exploring options for mitigating the negative impacts and implications."

When classifying materials according to their 'sustainability', many factors have to be taken into account. For instance, if only the carbon footprint is the metric by which sustainability is measures, then the result may be that incineration is better than recycling.

For that reason, sustainability analyses have to be performed with a broader and more comprehensive scope. If not, this diminishes the overall robustness of the approach and leads to less-informed decision-making.

In that regard, at PACK, we can perform comprehensive sustainability studies on your materials, taking into account not only the carbon footprint, but also, the material footprint and other dimensions such as water usage, biodiversity considerations, eutrophication, air pollution, water contamination, and deforestation impacts for example.
